Dishin’ on Taste Chefs: Meet Chef Andreas Yerondais of Mythos

Chef Andreas

At Mythos Greek Cuisine, every dish tells a story—one of tradition, passion, and a deep connection to the Mediterranean way of life. At the helm of it all is Chef Andreas Yerondais, a culinary expert with over 33 years of experience. From the sun-kissed shores of Cyprus to the bustling food scene of Burlington, his journey is one of dedication, authenticity, and, above all, flavour.

A Culinary Journey Rooted in Family

For Chef Andreas, cooking isn’t just a profession—it’s a lifelong passion ignited by his mother’s homemade dishes. Growing up, he was always by her side, watching and learning as she prepared simple yet soulful meals like chicken, pork, meatballs, and moussaka.

“The first dish I remember making from scratch was cannelloni when I was just 16 years old,” he recalls. That moment sparked a love for cooking that led him to culinary school and eventually to crafting the authentic Greek and Cypriot cuisine that Mythos is known for today.

Authenticity on Every Plate

At Mythos, quality is everything. Chef Andreas is dedicated to using pure ingredients imported from Greece—the same ones his mother used when he was growing up.

“I cook the way I was taught—with fresh, real ingredients,” he says. “If my mom used them, I use them.”

His signature dishes celebrate the flavours of Greece, Cyprus, and the Mediterranean, honouring the time-honoured traditions of his homeland while bringing Burlington diners a truly authentic experience.

Cookbook on the Horizon

With a loyal following at Mythos, Chef Andreas often gets asked for recipes. Now, he’s turning those requests into reality.

“I hope to publish my cookbook in 2025,” he shares, excited about the opportunity to bring the tastes of Mythos into people’s homes. Alongside his work at the restaurant, he’s continuously experimenting with new recipes to keep the Mythos menu fresh and exciting.

Passion in Every Bite

When asked what drives him after more than three decades in the industry, Chef Andreas sums it up in one word: passion. His love for cooking, his commitment to quality, and his dedication to sharing the rich flavours of his heritage shine through in everything he does.
