Good friends, good food and good drinks are all made better by the sound of live music. Now, after missing out on these amazing things since March 2020 we are excited to welcome the return of live music in #BurlON. We have an abundance of local talent performing a variety of genres around the city for your enjoyment. Highlighted below are some of the best places to catch this return to live music in Burlington.
Sound of Music Return to Live Series
The sound of music organizers will be running the Club Series program throughout the summer of 2021. This series will highlight local artists at favorite local bars, restaurants and attractions. A list of venues, dates and artists can be found by clicking below:
Additionally, as another part of the return to live series, Sound of Music will host physically distanced shows at Burlington Centre. On Saturday August 28th Tokyo Police Club with support from Born Ruffians will perform an afternoon show starting at 2:00pm and an evening show starting at 7:30pm. On Sunday August 29th 54-40 with support from The Vaudevillian will perform an afternoon show at 2:00pm and an evening show at 7:30pm. Burlington Downtown Jazz Fest
Live Jazz Music in the heart of Downtown Burlington the weekend of August 14-15. Taking place on the Plaza (outdoors) at the Burlington Performing Arts Centre there is a great line-up of talented jazz musicians. Book your tickets now and enjoy an afternoon or evening of great live music.
Barra Fion specializes in pairing great beverages with great food. Their from-scratch menu items and selection of beverages are sure to impress. Loch Side Bar & Lounge
Loch Side Bar and Lounge serves classic Scottish dishes with a modern spin, as well as local favorites. They feature a patio which overlooks Spencer Smith Park and Lake Ontario. Live soft jazz can be heard on the patio most Friday and Saturday nights. Indoor events will also be held during the winter months. Refer to the restaurants Instagram account to confirm showtimes.
The Dickens is a classic pub located in downtown Burlington that hosts a variety of music events. An open mic night takes place on Wednesday followed by karaoke on Thursday and live bands on Friday, Saturday and Sunday night. The Slye Fox is a British style pub in mid-Burlington featuring a concert stage. They have resumed live music on Friday nights which usually begins at 8:30pm. It is recommended that you call the restaurant at 905 333 4994 to confirm start times and lineup.
Carrigan Arms is a classic pub in north Burlington that will return to live music beginning on August 8th. Show off your own musical talent with karaoke on Friday night and then enjoy the talent of local artists on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday afternoon the “Blues Sermon” featuring blues and 70s rock duos takes place from 3:00pm-6:00pm. On Sunday afternoon enjoy a country music duo from 2:00pm-6:00pm. Uptown Social House
Uptown Social House is another one of Burlington’s many great pubs. Various unique live music events take place here each week. On Thursdays, Uptown Social House welcomes you to show off your own musical talent during a jam with James Anthony. On Friday and Saturday nights, dueling pianos, which is known as the most interactive show in town, takes places from 9:00pm-12:30am.Full of familiar tunes and lots of singing and laughs. Reservations are strongly recommended for dueling pianos shows. Finally, on Saturday afternoon from 1:00pm-5:00pm the James Anthony band performs with a weekly rotating guest.
District Kitchen + Bar
District Kitchen + Bar is a casual eatery with an impressive selection of drinks including local craft beer. The restaurant features live music with acoustic sessions on Thursday nights from 7:30pm – 10:30pm. Located in Aldershot, it’s a must visit.
The Black Swan is a classic pub with a down to earth setting and a large covered patio. On Fridays from 9:30pm-1:00am the pub features live bands and on Saturday from 9:30pm-1:00am you can participate in Karaoke! The restaurant will also host an occasional matinee from 2:00pm-5:00pm. Miss Bailey Brown
Miss Bailey Brown’s is a new chocolate shop and bakery that also hosts events. Starting on August 6th with their “Chocolate Jam” open mic nights every Friday. More info coming soon!
Studebaker is a family run modern day pub with a comfortable and relaxed environment. They will be resuming live music as restrictions continue to be lifted.
