We were lucky to attend the first-ever food tour along with fellow bloggers One Modern Couple, Sid Friedman & HungryHungryHeeJoo. They all specialize in creating food-related content so follow them online to find out which cool and interesting restaurant or meal they are currently enjoying.
Here’s how a Burlington Food Tour works. You’ll arrive at the first stop, check in, create a nametag and then mingle with other guests until the tour begins. The owner, chef or manager will then explain the restaurant, standard and special menu items before each person receives their tasting which is a sample-sized portion. The group then moves on by walking to the next restaurant and this is repeated 4-5 times depending on the number of restaurants included in the tour.
We’d now like to introduce you to Sue & Lori who are the beauties and brains behind Burlington Food Tours. They are not only “foodies” but also genuinely lovely ladies who take time to carefully select their restaurant partners and plan the tour to ensure a fun and enjoyable walking & dining experience for their guests.
Sue and Lori keep things unique, interesting and different by selecting various restaurants and cuisines for each tour which occurs once per month from June through October.
Here are few pictures from our food tour however keep in mind that the restaurants vary from one tour to the next. Warning: do not scroll down on an empty stomach!
The Block & Co – 395 John St.
An upscale deli is how we’d describe The Block & Co. There are specialty meats, cheeses and olives to please every palate.
Boon Burger Cafe – 399 Elizabeth St.
An entirely plant-based restaurant that even meat-lovers like Tony will enjoy. Also, they don’t fry anything..very healthy eats.
Papa Giuseppe’s – 455 Brant St.
The traditional Italian thin-crust pizzas and pastas are what caught our attention on the menu. As you can tell from the video everyone on the tour also loved the meat-a-ballas!
Barra Fion – 1505 Guelph Line #10A (Burlington Heights Plaza)
We visited both the Downtown Burlington pop-up version created especially for the tour as well as the main restaurant which is at the north end of the city. If you’re a fan of tapas and sangria then Barra Fion is the place to be.
Emma’s Back Porch – 2084 Old Lakeshore Road
Emma’s offers the best views of Lake Ontario in addition both traditional and non-traditional bar-and-grill fare so grab a table on the patio and enjoy. There’s also special events and live music so visit the website for more info
You can thank us later. First, wipe the drool off your face.
In case you’ve never been to Downtown Burlington or on a Burlington Food Tour then you’re definitely missing out. We can’t think of a better way to see, experience and taste your way through the city so book a Tour today. As mentioned before and most importantly….wear stretchy pants
